Landing
in Salt Lake City, amidst the setting sun and the majestic mountains, set
an appropriate tone of expectancy for our joint meetings.
Attendance was high, sessions
were varied and interesting, the facilities were very good, and the hotel
staff were friendly and helpful. Since our last pilgrimage to Salt Lake
City, the Olympics had come to town. As a result, fine dining and
pedestrian-friendly shopping were accessible to all those wishing to
pamper themselves.
From a scholarly perspective, we were treated to D.
Paul Johnson's presidential address, "From
Religious
Markets to Religious Communities: Contrasting Implications for Applied
Research," which, in due course, will appear in print in our
journal.
Mike McMullen performed the job of
Program Chair with distinction, and our
Executive Officer, Bill Swatos, was as attentive to detail as ever. Thanks
to each one, our meetings were more than successful!
The
2002
program theme was Theory and Applied Research
