OPENING
The 1965 Annual Meeting of the Religious Research Association, Inc. was called to order by President Walter Kloetzli at 4:00 p.m. On June 18, 1965, in the Georgetown Room, Loyola University, 820 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Proper notice of the meeting had been given in accordance with the Bylaws. Forty-three members were present.
MINUTES
The motion was made, seconded, and carried,* that the Minutes of the 1964 Annual Meeting be approved as distributed to this meeting.
*Hereinafter this phrase shall be indicated by the word VOTED.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Miss Bonnie Jones reported for Treasurer George Kaslow (Exhibit A). She called attention to certain items: total disbursement of the Hazen Fund toward the printing of the resort from the International Conference on Sociology of Religion in the fall of 1962; the Regional Forum Find contains the receipts and disbursements of the Eastern Regional meeting of the RRA in January 1965 since the national treasurer served as fiscal agent; printing costs for the Review covered four issues plus a reprint of one earlier issue; the stationery cost covers a supply for several years.
VOTED, that the Treasurer's report be accepted as submitted, with thanks to the Treasurer, and to Miss Jones for pesenting the report.
FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT
The report of the Finance Committee, John Wagner, Jr., Chairman, was read by Lauris Whitman (Exhibit B.). He called particular attention to the exceptional work of George Kaslow as treasurer.
(Audit)
The report of the audit for the year June 1, 1963 - May 31, 1964, has been received.
(Budget)
The proposed income section of the 1965-6 budget is compared to actual income during the 1964-5 year; proposed disbursements in the new budget are compared to last year's budget. The Development Committee has a larger allocation than usual, to permit a large campaign this fall. This budget, like others in the past, does not represent the whole cost of operation. The asterisks indicate points at which subsidies in unknown amounts are made available by various members and organizations to the ongoing work of the RRA.
VOTED, that the 1965.6 proposed budget in the amount of $5780 be adopted, and that the report of the Finance Committee be accepted, with thanks to the Committee, its Chairman, and to Dr. Whitman for presenting the report.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
President Walter Kloetzli read his report (Exhibit C). There was acknowledgement of the leadership Walter Kloetzli has given, in the words, "This organization has had most consistent, thorough, and devoted attention from its executive."
With applause, it was VOTED, that the report of the President be accepted, with real gratitude.
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Developments from the Development Committee were reported by President Kloetzli: the Chairman of the Committee, Everett Perry, is marrying one of his staff people, Margaret Tammen, within a couple of weeks.
There is no further report from this Committee at this time.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Lauris Whitman, Chairman, read the Report of Membership Committee (Exhibit D). He indicated attempts were made to reduce the number who failed to renew their membership--personal letters, one or two, were sent to each, and some telephoning was done.
VOTED, that the report of the Membership Committee be accepted, with thanks to the Chairman, Membership Secretary, and the Committee.
PROGRAM COMMITTEE
The Report of the Program Committee (Exhibit E), was given by Lyle E. Schaller. He announced registration to mid-afternoon this day at the 1965 Annual RRA Meetings is 92; another 17 have said they will be here. Appreciation was expressed to Walter Kloetzli, Victor Obenhaus, and Paul Mundy for taking care of program and arrangements for this Annual Meeting; and also gratitude to the discussion leaders who participated.
Seven Regional meetings for the coming year are tentatively scheduled:

The 1966 Annual Meeting of the RRA will be held June 16-18 in St. Louis. The 1967 Annual Meeting will be in Chicago.
VOTED, that the report of the Program Committee be accepted, with thanks to the Chairman, to all those who have shared responsibility for Regional meetings, and especially to Victor Obenhaus and Paul Mundy for their work on this Annual Meeting.
PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE
Widick Schroeder, Chairman of the Publications Committee appointed by the Board to serve until this Annual Meeting, presented his report (Exhibit F.), Four additional observations were made by Dr. Schroeder:
VOTED, that the report of the Publications Committee be accepted, with thanks to the Chairman and to the Committee.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Report of the Nominating Committee was read by John R. Shope, Chairman (Exhibit G). Responding to the two questions raised at the end of the report, Chairman Shape reported action of the Board of Directors yesterday, requesting the Nominating Committee to prepare a pattern of staggered elections to submit to the next Board meeting, this to include the election of directors-at-large in equal numbers each time.

VOTED, that the above named slate of officers be elected by acclamation.
VOTED, that the report of the Nominating Committee be accepted, with thanks to the Chairman and Committee.
Dr. Paul Mundy, newly elected President of the Religious Research Association, assumed the chair to the applause of the membership.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to all, and gave assurance that in the time ahead he will do everything he possibly can to deal with what he sees to be the needs of the Religious Research Association.
APPRECIATION
VOTED, that the Religious Research Association 1965 Annual Meeting express sincere gratitude to its H. Paul Douglass lecturer, Dr. Talcott Parsons; to its Program and Local Arrangements Chairmen, Dr. Victor Obenhaus and Dr. Paul Mundy, and their Committees; to all speakers, discussion leaders, and participants; to Loyola University; and to the Board which completes its term of office with this meeting.
